Schwinn Active Series 20 Recumbent Review

The Schwinn Active 20 Series exercise bike is a comfortable and affordable recumbent. The Schwinn Active series (10 for upright and 20 for recumbent) bikes are less expensive than the newer models but still offer Schwinn quality and warranties. The Active 20 is easy to assemble as well as quiet and very comfortable.

Note: The Active 20 series has been replaced by the "Schwinn A20" for 2011.

The11 preset programs, quiet magnetic ECB resistance (Eddy current brake) system, super quiet motor, and simple assembly are just a few of the many features that makes the Active Series 20 a good buy.

You can watch TV, listen to music and your hands are free (for reading magazines or books, etc.). Recumbentmodels are more popular mostly because most people consider them more comfortable.

Schwinn Recumbent Exercise Bike Comparisons:

The Active Series 20 Exercise Bikes have less resistence levels and number of programs than the Schwinn 220 and Schwinn 240 and is rated for a max user weight of 275 pounds compared to 300 pounds (for the 220 and 240) but you will usually pay $100 to $200 less for the Active Series 20.

The Schwinn 220 and Schwinn 240 have a better warranty and some additional features but if you need to keep your costs down and do not need the additional features, then the Active Series 20 will at least give you another option.

I would only recommend budget fitness bikes for limited use and only when you really can not afford at least a mid-range model. Although you still get fair quality and a decent Schwinn warranty, this is truly a budget model, is flimsier than the mid-range models and will probably not last as long.

Stationary bikes provide a good Aerobic exercise which improves cardiovascular health and circulation. This recumbent gives you a safe, low impact aerobic exercise similar to the more expensive stationary bikes used for fitness, health and physical therapy for years.

This is a very quiet recumbent stationary bike.
Assembly is easy and assembly instructions are well written.
