Schwinn A20 Recumbent Review

The Schwinn A20 is Schwinn's low end recumbent exercise bike and replaces last years "Active 20 Series" bike. The name is not the only thing that Schwinn shortened on this bike. Schwinn has reduced the features and the warranty on this model.

The Schwinn A20 recumbent still has the quiet magnetic ECB SChwinn A20 recumbent (Eddy current brake) resistance system, preset programs, and heart rate monitor like its predecessor (the Active Series 20) and it has some newer features such as a fan (not much use), reading rack and water bottle holder but many of the better features of last years model have been downgraded or removed.

Schwinn Recumbent Exercise Bike Comparisons:

The A20 has less resistance levels and number of programs than the Schwinn 220 and Schwinn 240  and is rated for a max user weight of 275 pounds compared to 300 pounds (for the 220 and 240) but you will usually pay around $100 to $200 less for the A20.

Note: The 2013 Schwinn A20 is no longer available from this site or no longer for sale online.

About-Bicycles Review:

When I tested the Schwinn A20, I found if difficult to set the programs and resistance levels but eventually managed to figure this out. Even after finding the resistance level settings, I found that the highest level still provided very little resistance. This model would be OK for very light workouts but you'll need to spend some time on it to get much benefit.

Although the A20 is quite a bit cheaper than other Schwinn models, I would have to recommend the Schwinn 220 and Schwinn 250 over the Schwinn A20.
