Passing by the Winnetka Train Station and under the pedestrian crosswalk on the GBT. This is just south of Oak Street which is the light colored bridge in the distance in the photo above.
Although most of the Green Bay Trail is crushed stone in the northern section (through Glencoe, for example) this part of the trail is paved with a crushed stone section on the side. This is a great setup for runners to have a softer surface for less impact.
The Winnetka Station a little further south on the GBT. If you missed my note on the GBT photo page #7, I have kept the order of this photo tour going from north to south (since that was how I started way back at the Great Lakes Naval Station) although most of these photos were taken facing north so that could get you a little disoriented (especially if you are very familiar with this trail).
Another on of the tall bridges that you pass under on the Winnetka part of the Green Bay Trail. The bridge in the photo above is for Oak Street. It is so nice to have these bridges (in place for crossing the tracks) on this trail so you don't have to spend so much of your ride crossing roads and watching out for traffic!
This one is the Cherry Street bridge. The bridges also give you a place in the shade or out of the rain (if needed) to take a break for whatever reason.
This is a fairly typical straight section in the Winnetka leg of the trail. I admit that it's not the most exciting photo but I wanted to capture the feel of the trail in many different locations.
The Green Bay Trail Winnetka sign. Once again i'm not sure exactly where the borders for the various towns along the trail are but this is the southern end of Winnetka and the sign says Winnetka Park District so I assume that this is the border between Winnetka and Kenilworth.
