The Schwinn Active 10 Series exercise bike is a very affordable upright fitness bike. The Schwinn Active series (10 for upright and 20 for recumbent) bikes are less expensive than the newer models but still offer some of the same Schwinn quality and warranties. The Active 10 is built well and has all of the basics that you will need for a low cost stationary bike.
Note: The Active Series 10 has been replaced by the "Schwinn A10' for 2011.
The 11 preset programs, quiet magnetic ECB resistance (Eddy current brake) system, super quiet motor, and simple assembly are just a few of the many features that makes the Active Series 10 upright a good buy (for the price).
Schwinn Upright Exercise Bike Comparisons:
There are newer upright bikes from Schwinn, such as the as the Schwinn 140 and Schwinn 150 Uprights have more options (such as a reading rack, multicolor LCD and oversized saddle) but you will usually pay up to $150 more for these models.
Of course, price is not the only factor when selecting a fitness bike. You also need to consider the quality of the product, how often you intend to use it and how long you expect it to last.
In general I DO NOT recommend very low-end, budget stationary bikes like this model. Although this upright bike is still a Schwinn it is one of the lowest quality bikes that they make.
I could only give this bike a very limited recommendation for those who are on a very tight budget and for limited use only. I would say, do yourself a favor and move up to at least a mid-range upright stationary bike.
Note: The Active Series 10 is no longer available. Please refer to the Schwinn A10 Review.
