This part of the Kenosha County Bike Trail goes through a residential area and next to the power lines as you can see here. I just had to get a photo to show how the power lines are actually right in the back yards of the houses in this area.
The power line tower is actually in the fenced in part of this person's back yard! Sorry, but that is just way too close for me.
This is where you get on the north and south part of the Kenosha County Bike trail (and later the Racine County Bike Trail a little further north) from 35th street which heads east out to Lake Michigan.
After a short ride east on 35th street, which goes through a residential area, you get out to Lake Michigan and to the Pike Bike Trail that runs along the lake shore and through a few lakefront parks. Dale took the photo above of the hammocks strung from the huge trees right on the beach.
Here's a photo of the Pike Bike Trail as it winds through Kennedy Park on Lake Michigan. We actually stopped at a picnic table here to have a submarine sandwich at the start of our trip.
This is another wide angle photo that I shot to try to show how the bike trail runs through the large open park area and along the Lake Michigan shore line.
One more photo looking back on the Pike Bike Trail as it winds through Kennedy Park next to Lake Michigan near the end of a beautiful summer day.
This sign is at the southern end of Kennedy Park on Lake Michigan just north of Simmons Island Park in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
A few things that made this ride even more interesting was that they had the Pike River Rendezvous and Taste of Wisconsin going on in Kenosha on the weekend of our ride. More on that in the next photo page of the tour.
Here's the photo tour of the Root River and Racine Trails from the Root River Pathway in Racine, to the Racine County Trail, the Kenosha County trail, the Pike Bike trail on Lake Michigan and into the town of Kenosha Wisconsin. This ride was from August 2015.
