We took the Root River Pathway route a short distance through town and got back on to the Racine County trail heading south as shown in the photo above. This trail is paved, flat and straight with trees on both sides in many places.
The Racine Trail is well maintained and covers quite a few miles which makes for a nice, easy casual ride. There is also another leg of this trail that heads west when you get into Racine but we did not take that one on this ride.
The Racine County Trail runs north and south and connects to the Kenosha County Trail at 1st Street or County Road KR. You barely notice that you are on a different trail although the Racine part of the trail (the northern part) is more wooded where the Kenosha part is more open.
As you can see in the photo this is at the 4.0 mile marker as we headed south. The trail is a little less wooded at this point.
This is a wide angle (panoramic) photo that I took to show the trail and the surrounding area that it runs through. At this point the trail has some trees on both sides and runs through some southern Wisconsin farm lands.
The photo above is on the Kenosha County part of the bike trail where the trail opens up and becomes less wooded. This is the northern most part of the Kenosha County Trail which actually connects to the Robert McClory bike trail in Illinois at the southern end of the trail after you go through Kenosha.
This photo is where the Kenosha County Trail runs through some residential areas and along some high tension power lines ~ as you will see in the first photo on the next page of this photo tour.
Here's the photo tour of the Root River and Racine Trails from the Root River Pathway in Racine, to the Racine County Trail, the Kenosha County trail, the Pike Bike trail on Lake Michigan and into the town of Kenosha Wisconsin. This ride was from August 2015.
