"I purchased the bike on cyber monday 2013 from sears for $300/free shipping which at the time was a good buy but today sears is selling it for $270. I bought it to replace the schwinn 113 that i've had for years.
i picked the bike up at sears rather than choosing home delivery to avoid potential damage to the box and when i picked it up the box was in good shape and fit into the back seat of my sedan car easily. I was impressed that upon opening that all pieces were tightly snugged between styrofoam and packaged well for shipping. I'm not mechanically inclined at all and had no problem with assembly.
The seat is well cusioned and is most comfortable when positioning your rear end on the back part rather than the front. The pedaling is whisper quiet and the resistance levels can easily be made to be easy or difficult. I'm in good cardio shape and I tend to set it at resistance level 9 which is midrange. There are a couple of negatives, which are the cup holder is too low and difficult to reach, there should have been a cup holder on the piece that extends upwards to the handlebars. There is no automatic power shutoff or turn on for this bike. You have to plug it in or unplug it. Also you can't position your hands on the handlebars directly in front of you since the display takes up the space in that area so you have to hold the handlebars on the left and right side of the display rather than directly below the display.
The positives are that it's great for a small amount of space or apartment since it's compact and not big and bulky. I haven't used all the display capabilities, I tend to just set it on manual with the same resistance for 45 minutes and am drowning in sweat when finished so it works well. There is a small ledge on the display to place a book, magazine or the tv remote on. The handlebars are adjustable so it can be moved closer to you or further away and then tighted easily with a knob to prevent slippage. The front of the bike has rollers so the bike can be moved easily by lifting the back and pushing it. Rocking of the bike is avoided easily by adjusting the levelers on the
bottom. The seat adjusts up and down and horizontally also which is good.
Compared to the schwinn 113 which I paid $350, I'd say the nordictrack is a better bike and value. The schwinn had problems with the handlebars slipping since it couldn't be tightened enough to prevent it from doing so and the schwinn pedaling mechaism had some grinding issues not riding as smoothly as the nordictrack. the schwinn did have the beverage holder higher up to be reached easily. I would give the nordictrack gx2.7 a grade of A- (very good/excellent) If it
weren't for the lack of an auto power on and off and the cup holder positioning I would have given it a grade of "A" "

"A couple of things I'll add is that the schwinn 113 i had previously arrived in a box that looked like a bomb hit it and upon opening the pieces were not secure and the nordictrack was the opposite being well packaged and secured. The biggest complaint of upright bikes is always the comfort of the seat and comparing the schwinn 113 i had to the nordictrack I'd say the seat on the nordictrack is more comfortable. For today's price of $270 it's a bargain and good value. Also, I did have to contact customer service to have one of the pedals reshipped to me since i put it on the wrong way and stripped the threading to attach it, my own fault. Customer service required me to be registered with the serial and model number in order to receive parts. The model # is on the front page of the instruction manual and the serial # is on the bottom of the main frame of the bike. I received the part in a speedy two weeks and all is well since then. Dan"
