Finally, one of the high-end quality bike manufacturers comes out with a line of endurance XC (full suspension) bikes that are affordable for serious riders that just can't fork out big bucks for a new bike. Salsa Spearfish 3 Endurance XC

The Salsa Spearfish comes in 3 models this year (2012) which includes the even more affordable Salsa Spearfish 3 for under $2,200. 

This is a brand new model and a brand new bike that has a durable and comfortable frame design, full suspension and good components right out of the box (you can upgrade later as you like or as is necessary, of course).

The Salsa spearfish can handle long days on tough trails and challenging terrain as well as ultra-endurance XC racing and riding. As for the basics, all Salsa Spearfish models have a rugged aluminum frame, full suspension, SRAM components and and hydraulic disc brakes. There are quite a few differences between the models after that.

Salsa builds high quality, well engineered mountain bikes that are rated highly by their owners. The Salsa Spearfish is named after the town of Spearfish, South Dakota ~ home to the Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club, the Dakota 5-O race, and hundreds of miles of single track trails.

Salsa Spearfish Model Comparisons:

The 2012 Salsa Spearfish series has three price/component levels. For the Salsa Spearfish, the price and component quality goes down as the level numbers go up (the Sensor 1 is the best and most expensive and the Sensor 3 is the least expensive).

At the time of this review, not all of the 2012 Salsa Spearfish models were available from our online merchants and although the specs were all available on the SalsaCycles website, they were general and did not have an easy comparison feature.

The Salsa Spearfish is one of the most affordable fs mtn bikes that Salsa makes. Even with the lower end Spearfish models, you will still get a more high quality and durable bike than with many other manufacturer's models in the same price range.

The Spearfish is a good selection for serious riders looking for a full suspension, aluminum frame, endurance XC bike with SRAM components. Naturally, the higher priced Spearfish model will give you better components right out of the box but the Spearfish 2 and Spearfish 3 are excellent choices at reasonable prices.

At the time of this review there plenty of Salsa Spearfish customer reviews. Although most reviews were for earlier model years.

For example the Salsa Spearfish reviews at mtbr rate the Salsa Spearfish at 4.64 (peppers) from 14 Reviews, although they are not real specific, in all cases, as to which model is being reviewed.
