Cannondale is known for making some of the highest quality bikes in the world and bike frames that are designed not only for speed but for rider comfort as well. The Cannondale Adventure is designed specifically to be practical and comfortable.
The Cannondale Adventure frame has the most upright rider geometry of all the Cannondale bike frames and has been designed to allow the rider to comfortably touch the ground while maintaining an efficient pedaling position. The angle of the top tube allows for easy mounting and dismounting.
On top of the comfortable frame design, The Cannondale Adventure comes with a heavily padded, spring suspension seat and front suspension (shock absorber) (Adventure 2 model) to smooth out your ride. The soft, twist grip shifters are also comfortable and easy to operate.
You are not going to be comfortable on a bike unless it fits you right and is adjusted properly. The Cannondale Adventure makes this easy with a seat adjustment lever as well as a tool free, lever-action stem (handlebar) adjustment.
The biggest disadvantage with some Cannondale bikes is the price but the Cannondale Comfort Bikes, and the Adventure in particular, is very reasonably priced.
Note: The 2012 Cannondale Adventure is no longer available online (new) or difficult to find online or in retail stores. The Adventure 2 was previously selling for $499.93 (new) at REI.
The Cannondale Adventure can handle commuting, running errands, weekend rides and trips, or a ride with the kids. The slightly wider tires and front suspension not only provide a more comfortable ride they also give you good traction and stability on crushed stone, dirt, grass, or fairly rugged bike trails.
The Adventure does not have many different models or price levels. The Cannondale Adventure 2 is the high end and more expensive model while the Cannondale Adventure 3 is the least expensive.
The main difference between the two models is that the Adventure 2 comes with a front suspension (shock absorber ~ with 35mm of travel) and the Adventure 3 does not. The Adventure 2 also has a little better rear derailleur.
This bike also comes in a 26 inch frame which is slightly smaller than the standard 700mm frame.

Cannondale bikes are excellent quality although they can be a little more expensive than other comparable brands. Fortunately, the Cannondale Comfort and Hybrid Bikes are much more reasonably priced than some of their other lines.
Everything about the Cannondale Adventure is designed to be practical and to give you an easy and comfortable ride. The front suspension (on the Adventure 2) adds some weight to this bike but for the riding styles that this bike is designed for this should not be a problem.
I would highly recommend the Cannondale Adventure as a high quality, practical and comfortable bike that sells for a very good price online.
